All this heighten talk of late about doing away with the treaty limiting the number of nuclear missiles between superpowers is kind of ironic. In reality, it doesn’t take an atomic mega blast like occurred twice in Japan during WWII to create a holocaust. The simple hand gun (and/or its AR-15 complement) is sufficient enough. They’re readily available and much more effective since the user is in complete control for a surprise attack.

If you were to take the sum total of people killed by small weapons, that figure would easy qualify as a weapon of mass destruction. Unfortunately, our American government is basically sleeping with the enemy (the NRA), so don’t count on a solution to the proliferation of hand guns anytime soon. Sorry.

As a matter of fact, Trump had the audacity to chastise the Jewish leaders for not having loaded (sorry for the pun) their synagogue with gunmen within, before their racial, terrorist intruder opened fire. Yep, more guns to solve too many guns already. Sounds like a plan the NRA thought up, doesn’t it?

The thinking (the NRA too) that the American people should have their guns available to protect themselves in case our government goes rogue, is unrealistic at best. Maybe back in our Revolutionary days when individual citizens could hold their own, but now, the general public is no match for the sophisticated weaponry and intelligence our government possess.

The other argument the NRA promotes is that guns don’t fire automatically–that is without the help of a human pulling the trigger. True enough. Something deeper usually causes a person(s) to want to take the life of another. That something’s foundation almost always stems from hate. Hating someone out of jealousy, covertness, etc. (the list goes on and on) is no excuse for taking your sinfulness to the ultimate level. Remember Cain took Able’s life because he was jealous of his brother’s sacrifice, which was more pleasing to God than his. Get a grip on your own life before you contemplate taking the life of another (yours included). Take the 2×4 out of your own eye before you look for looking the splinter in mine. And I will seek to do the same for you.

All humanity (individually speaking) is accountable in the end to Jesus for the deeds we’ve done–good and bad. But Christians, not withstanding, have been washed of their sins. Their graced position is “as good as it gets” before Christ’s judgment.

Since humanity seems doomed (not fated but out of choice) to self-destruct, I said it before and Ill say it again, “Come quickly Lord Jesus.” Do I hear an Amen?
