At the end of the last days, our world as we now know it, will melt away with fervent heat. It will be replaced with a New Jerusalem coming down from heaven. Meanwhile, we Christians are to keep our distance from an evil world and the evil one (Satan), who presently has been given power on Earth (by God Himself) to negatively influence us away from worshiping The Creators–Father, Son, and (Holy Spirit?).
In Worldly Retreat we have a depiction of not only the Earth’s land masses melting away from intense heat, but also the idea of Earth (not the sun) realizing its final curtain call as a sunset melting into the nothingness of a watery, space horizon.
The retreating swimmer(s) better start their exit from a doomed spiritual world (by becoming a Christian) in advance of it physically happening, because once it starts in earnest (think sinking ship metaphor), it’s already finished–in the twinkle of an eye, at the last trumpet’s sound the dead in Christ shall resurrect in advance of their living counterparts to an ascension in the clouds with our Maker and Savior, Jesus Christ.
So in conclusion, there’s two perspective sides of this swimmer in the water. First off, if he’s not saved, he may be attempting to swim for his life during the Tribulation, to no avail of course. Or, if he’s a Christian, he may be devoutly swimming away from the unrighteousness of this world in preparation for Christ’s promised return.
