We’ll Fly Away

Yeah, that’s me in my Gator uniform–over a half-a-century ago. I was flying (momentarily suspended in air) at the time the photo was taken on Florida Field (the Swamp–thanks, Steve). Little did I realize that father time was also aboard my person. I’m a mere shadow of my former self. But then again, who cares. I’m promised a new life system upon my resurrection! (My college football number of 72 has got nothing whatsoever to do with the 72 vestal virgins promised Islamic warriors if they die on duty–not that I’m accusing you of interpreting that way).

I was fortunate enough to realize some thirty plus years ago, that one day I’m going to meet my maker on a cloudy sky day. Along for the ride, will be any number of mankind that have also committed beforehand to following Jesus Christ before his second arrival.

In this painting, we’re all connected to Christ via Jesus Christ. And we’re all children of Abraham–whether we want to admit it or not. “Christian grey,” I say. No more, no less, and certainly not “shades of grey”. For we’re all neutralized (skin color) by becoming Christians. Even bikini clad sunbathers are possibly more apt to “fly away” with Jesus than some sanctimonious “religious” people. Do I hear an amen, brother–OK, sister too?
