Ronald Reagan was one of American’s most beloved presidents. Especially so in the modern era. On June 12, 1987, Reagan told Mikhail Gorbachev (then the leader of the Soviet Union) to tear down this (East Berlin) wall.” A scant two years later, all the bricks came tumbling down. These falling bricks dealt a crushing blow to Communism. I saw it all happen on TV.
In my graphic, you see Reagan superimposed over Berlin’s Brandenburg gate. But this gate has a stylized peace and/or victory hand sign (not bunny ears) substituted where the gate’s Quadriga sculpture presently resides. Interestingly enough, this sculpture is of a victory goddess.
Ronald Reagan was a Republican president before that party started throwing the downtrodden under the buses en masse. And he didn’t bulk a having a heart for the immigrants, who he continually praised for their contribution to making America great, decades before America was told that they needed(?) to become great again. Kind of reminds me of people saying they’re a “reborn again Christian,” when stating that you’re a Christian automatically covers the reborn aspect.
