Manifest destiny (and the Indian Removal Act) were the thought-up US doctrines used to justify (by God?) the removed of the majority of Native American Indians off their lands for America’s westward expansion. It wasn’t humanely done for the most part, and the US broke many treaties with the Indians in doing so. Indians, military, and settlers alike killed one another repeatedly in this era (make that error) of American history.

Both sides scalped one another. Some Indians were hanged (but not necessarily in their own teepees–my artistic license). It’s a period in our history we’re certainly not too proud of and would like to forget. But it’s crucial that we teach our youth the truth (as embarrassed as we might be to admit to it) and not sugar-coat it with a cover-up. For if our youth don’t learn America’s mistakes of the past, they’ll be much more inclined to repeat them in the future. Critical Race Theory will always bleed through the half-truths about what really happened no matter what the effort is to suppress it.

This graphic better depicts the dire situation on today’s reservations. Suicides of native American Indians are three times more likely than the rest of Americans. And in some cases, ten times more likely. Moreover, it’s predominately happening to the Indian youths. it’s the same culprits attacking their society: poverty, unemployment, domestic violence, sexual assault alcoholism and drug addition. Unfortunately, it appears that our Native American Indians have followed our negative lead of Americana’s downtrodden to almost perfection.
