If completely (?) trained cops with years of experience can make critical mistakes, like killing of a confined (in the driver’s seat) suspect with their gun thinking she was using a taser, then it stands to reason your common teacher won’t have the wherewithal to execute properly in critical terrorists situations with very limited training. We all know in critical live and death situations, the head doesn’t always think analytically. An inadequately trained teacher is almost as apt to shoot one of their own students than the shooter himself. That’s if they can upholster their gun quick enough. Then there’s the assumption that teachers have the wherewithal to actually pull the trigger to shoot another human being.

Besides, do we want teachers strutting around the classrooms packing a bulge on their person? I think not. What kind of a message is sent to our children went they see and know teachers are packing, supposedly for their protection? Would it make them feel any safer? Maybe, maybe not.

There’s got to be a better solution to protecting our school children. If we can ban books out of our school libraries for the “alleged” good of a child, why can’t we ban assault riffles out of the hands of those same kids? Isn’t easy access to guns more crucial to a kid’s life than access to a banned book?

Again, what kind of message does a parent send to their child when they buy their kid a beginner’s AR-15 assault riffle called a JR-15. Gun ownership today goes far beyond the simple need to kill game. Contemporary ownership of weapons is the Right’s preparatory call to actions that are, more often than not, physically and psychologically undermining our Democracy (like the Jan.6th Capitol insurrection).

We thought nothing about playing Cowboys and Indians as kids. Some kids had to be Indians and others Cowboys. We called it a game. But really it wasn’t. It was indoctrination into America’s stinking thinking that God ordained America to posses the land from the Atlantic to the Pacific and be damned any Native Americans to stop us from our “God given” westward expansion.

Are the Right-Wingers of America parroting similar, if not the same, aggression? Do it our way (Trump’s Republicans) or the highway for Democracy. Autocracy or Democracy. It’s your choice at the voting booth. Your either for the masses or the special interests of a few.
