The buck stops, even for the NFL, at the players’ well being. And it rightly should be that way. But it didn’t even come close to being that way when I played way back in the last third of the 20th Century. Fortunately, time has been good for the defense of players’ health. Rules have been changed to protect the players from unnecessary injuries. Still, a player can get injured and/or killed in less time than it takes for a coin toss. It is what it is, and those who participate know the liabilities of playing, but what happened to Damar Himlin the other night was just unreal. Unreal enough to forgo the game after approximately an hour’s wait and decide time.

Millions pf spectators witnessed the incident on TV, and millions more are praying in earnest for Damar’s recovery. His go fund account went ballistic.

I choose to render the praying  players in black and white to emphasis the togetherness of both teams praying, and out of focus, to emphasis how little football winning means in reference to any and all players’ health and well being.

And Donald (as in Trump) is this enough evidence to convince you that modern football isn’t a sport for “sissies”?
