Is the Confederate flag just a symbol for the South’s “proud” heritage–instead of a symbol representing slavery and the hate of white supremacists over all others–not of their kind. Our American laws and enforcement are eaten up with systemic racial injustice. It’s way past time to put the civil rights acts into their deserving, rightful action.

Still, I’m not totally convinced we should tear down all the Confederate statures that remind us of an bygone era of errors in our priorities. In my way of thinking, leaving some statures up is a reminder of how not to approach today’s slavery of injustice and inequality.

The majority of Americans are Christian. As Christians, we have a much greater responsibility to project Jesus’ principles into our living patterns. The Godhead created man in Their image. Since God values and loves His human creation (enough to sacrifice His Son on our behalf), we should, likewise, love and value, in a similar manner, all the peoples He’s created. The bottom line is: God’s no respecter of persons (shows no favoritism), and neither should we (Christian or otherwise!) Amen?
