It seems to me the more Trump lies, the longer he wears his ties. Pinocchio noses are used to represent habitual liars. But in Trump’s case, a Pinocchio nose just isn’t good enough to covey his numerous cover–up lies. His most recent being his perpetual statement: “No quid pro quo.”
Of course the more you repeat a lie, the chances of people starting to believe it, unfortunately, generally increase. Hitler got himself into power this way, and Germany, ultimately, paid the price of his wrongful leadership. When president Clinton was impeached by the Senate, the Republicans growled long and loudly about his sexual indiscretions. I doubt very seriously Bill Clinton compromised our national security over his lust for this woman. I consider Bill’s mistake a mere misdemeanor in comparison to Trump’s impeachable felony of bribing a foreign president by withholding monetary resources in order to obtain dirt on his political rival. Now that deserves, not only impeachment, but removal from office. How many more high ranking government officials do we need to come forward to verify “quid pro quo” for the Republicans to repent of their rationalizations on Trump’s behalf?
Trump calls Joe Biden “Sleepy Joe” meaning (I interpret) that Joe’s no match verses me. Well, maybe he isn’t, if you (Trump) call into play all your illegal resources to do him in. And then, lie again–repeatedly saying that Biden’s son, Hunter, did something major wrong. Even if Hunter did something unethical or illegal, which he hasn’t been accused of, it would still have little or nothing to do with his father, Joe Biden himself.
The general consensus is that Trump will not be removed from office with a Senate trial. Not because he’s not guilty, but because the Republicans hold a majority and will all vote along party lines in order to save (their respective) faces.
So, in the end, impeachment and removal probably won’t fly, but at least the Democrats were man (and woman) enough to point out to our nation that Trump thinks he’s above the law and shouldn’t be prosecuted for anything. That’s one step away from a dictatorship.
I’m ashamed to admit that Donald Trump is President of the United States. If Trump survives removal from office and gets elected for a second term, that would be insult to injury! “Fool me (Americas) once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me.” (I didn’t vote for Trump or Clinton, but I did vote).
And one more gripe: Trump had his chance to defend himself during the impeachment inquires but refused to take advantage of his invitation. Other officials that were requested to appear with a subpoena also declined. I surmised that they didn’t want to tell the truth for fear of hearing from Trump, “You’re fired!” John Q. Public gets arrested for not appearing when subpoenaed. Trump tells his entourage not to honor their subpoena (Obstruction of Congress). Obviously, not only Trump thinks he’s above the law, but he thinks everyone associated with him (in a present positive light) is exempt from questioning also. Go figure.
And one more thing: Trump rails about the Democrats keeping him in their crosshairs from the get go. I distinctively remember Trump continually complaining throughout Obama’s Presidencies that Obama shouldn’t have been allowed to become President because his birth certificate is somehow invalid with reference to him being a true American citizen. Trump doesn’t think out of the box; he thinks outside his egotistical brain.
