The snake image make out of brass and placed upon a pole in the dessert was for healing the snake bites of the sinful Israelites by mere observation (Numbers 21:8-9). This image also foreshadows Christ being raised up as a sin offering for all of mankind’s sins. My take is the snake image in the Gadsden Flag doesn’t parallel the aforementioned.

For the most part, since 2000, the “Don’t Tread On ME” wording, below the snake image is used in conjunction with gun-rights, conservatism and limited government. But its background message is one of white supremacy furthered by far-right, political and/or extremist groups. Their slogan is easily interpreted as an eye for an eye. Nothing about Christ merciful grace seems to be projected. Furthermore, that rattler isn’t coiled around a vertical, which kind of takes it out of the cross of Christ context. Clearly, the motto DNTOM connotes quick revenge, and again, nothing about turning the other check to let our democracy take its course.

In fact, the assault on our Capitol was a well thought out plan to attack and negatively control the destiny of our democracy. It now has come out that General Mark A. Milley, the 20th chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, was actually quite worried that Trump was considering a coup, if the 2020 elections results weren’t reversed in his favor. How could Americans even consider the likes of Trump for a second term. Wasn’t one more than enough? This would be like adding insult to injury.
