The GOP boys strive to pass legislation favoring the rights of the unborn. This is a good thing in my eyes, and I believe, in the Lord’s also. The problem arises after the newborn begins to experience life outside the womb. Just recently, a six year old brought a gun to school and shot his teacher. How does a six year old get gun access? I’ll tell you. Too many damn guns, especially in America and not enough safeguards to protect anyone.
It’s no secret that the GOP is in bed with the NRA. Has been since forever. Obviously, the NRA pushes the Second Amendment to their advantage. And so does the GOP. The GOP is good to the unborn, but devastating to the born. They pass laws that proliferate guns, and push legislation that requires little or no checks and balances. No background checks, open carry, and just lately, no permits for concealed weapons. If they had it their way, totally, everyone would be packing for their own “protection”? Yeah, right. The Wild West revisited.
I parallel gun proliferation for supposedly personal protection, to drugs in the NFL (and lesser programs). It was just “uppers and downers” (bennies) when I played (none for me, thank you very much). Soon after my NFL retirement exit, steroids become the drug of choice. Anything to beef-up to gain an advantage over players who refused to use. Many of the initial refuses were sucked and/or forced into using these illegal drugs to remain competitive. At their bodies expense after their playing days.
So, likewise, are we anti-gun advocates being forced to consider packing to remain on a level playing field with all the GOP packers? I sincerely hope not. When the mindset in America (for packers?) is almost to shoot first and use the “stand your ground defense” later for a more than likely acquittal, it makes gun ownership that much more complicated. What’s a non-packer to do?
