This is one of my favorite sculptures that evolved into a portable installation. It has been shown in a hospital setting. Of course I had to complete the uniform of the afternoon with the proper gator shorts. I kind of always wanted to play for the Gators, but the Steelers weren’t exactly on my short list. The Dolphins drafted me in the fifth round with more money offered than the Steelers in the second round (go figure). But the Steelers pursued me earlier and with much more enthusiasm (and politeness). I’m not at all sorry I choose the Steelers. Both teams went and won Super Bowls, but I can say without reservation that I don’t believe I could have made it through the Dolphins three-a-day practices the initial franchise players had to endure.
