Yeah, that’s a likeness (maybe even a clone) of Donald Trump called Florida’s Governor Ron DeSantis. He’s seeking to ride the coattails of Trump all the way to the 2024 White House, either as the President or his running mate. So he reasons. Both of them wear horse blinders/blinkers. Their focus is narrow, limited to straight ahead, and damn the Delta torpedoes and their masks casings, if they so much as get in the way of the Republicans return to power. Their quest and return to power is as tenacious as Pharaoh’s unwillingness to free the Israelites from their 400 years of bondage.

Trouble is, I’m mostly concerned with the here and now, like in 2021. As are most Americans. Florida’s bucking for the lead hot spot for the spread of Delta variant. DeSantis has been wearing Trump blinders for far too long–at Florida’s expense. Florida hasn’t come close to achieving (only 48%) the herd immunity of 70% nationwide. And, almost as important, DeSantis is totally against mask mandates, which the CDC is strictly recommending again, since we’ve recently learned that vaccinated people can spread this Delta virus also.

Most Florida school districts want to mask across the board, but DeSantis has vowed to withhold school funding if they don’t adhere to his mask less edit. What’s a cautious family to do other than keep their child home-again because of his degree. His non-funding blackmail won’t include viral teaching. DeSantis and his kind (Republicans mostly) obviously care not about saving lives. I pray for the unmasked kids returning to school this fall. Wearing a mask isn’t that much of a burden, especially for the protection of a life. Forget your liberty (non-maskers) for a short while for the protection of others–please.
