On so many detective TV programs, you often hear the claim from one officer of the law to another: “Hey, I’ve got your back.” That usually means one officer is covering for another in say the clearing of a building, residence or apartment. Of course it could also mean that one officer is “covering–up” for the misdeeds of another.
There always seems to be ulterior motives involved in almost everything we profess to do. Christ has no part in this. When HE says (in so many words) “I’ve got your back”, He’s stating that no matter what you’ve done, whatever heinous crime you’ve committed, you can be forgiven and your blackened slate wiped clean, if you become a baptized believer in Christ Jesus our Lord.
And make no mistake. You don’t have to murder someone to need forgiveness. The unrighteousness of just thinking negatively about some undeserving person is enough to merit getting your sin slate washed clean-again. “All sin and fall short of the glory of God.”
