It’s had to say how many immigrants, legal or otherwise, remain in America long enough to become US citizens. Of course, if they are born here, it becomes automatic, so I understand.
When things don’t usually work out, time wise, as planned, and they have no sponsoring families to fall back upon, are they prone to yield to the street and become homeless?
Sure, a few hundred lucky ones made it off the streets by being bussed and planned to MOL welcoming Democratic state governors, but they can only absorb so many, and housing was at best temporary. With little or no money in their pocket, reality is consistently knocking at their doors. And the streets await them.
I envision their American dream quickly becoming history and immediate survival paramount. Yeah, they’re probably better off homeless here in the USA than remaining in their parent, drug cartel, lawless countries. But sending your kids to schools in America isn’t a guarantee they’re coming home alive everyday, either.
I guess it comes down to the lesser of two evils. Yeah, America appears to be the land of milk and honey to Latin Americans/Mexicans especially, but our apparent greener pastures are presently afire with Republican hatred towards anyone who they deem lesser than white, Anglo-Saxon personage. And to top it off, recently SCOTUS made it official: city municipals have the legal right to prohibit the homeless from, not only not occupying city parks, but outside sleepovers inside their city limits too.
Homelessness isn’t a crime; lacking mercy is!
