US educational peace comes at a great cost. The cost is the uncertainty as to whether or not your child is going to be safe in school today. A deciding contributing factor in this life and death equation is the easy access by almost any youth to deadly guns.

America’s zeal (especially Republicans and the NRA) for their 2nd. Amendment gun rights has held gun regulation at bay for almost forever. Until we agree on stricter restrictions to keep guns off the market to the general populous, killings in schools aren’t going to lessen. We must be willing to sacrifice our love for small weapons of mass destruction for the survival of our school children.

What good does it do to protect the unborn from abortion, if we leave them vulnerable to attack after they’re born? Trump’s violent, revengeful rhetoric, in general, just adds more anger intensity to a classmate who believes some student/s has done them wrong.

Remember, Christ said to love your neighbor as yourself. That most definitely would include a student sitting next to you in class. Or for that matter, an immigrant, maybe living next door to you for years, who initially escaped death in his previous country, only to be under the threat of deportation now by Trump’s Gestapo ICE squads.
