The general consensus is that Jesus was in and out of homelessness throughout His lifetime. The same can be said of America’s homeless population today. Even though it is believed that Jesus actually had a home at one time, he existed as a itinerate preacher most of His lifetime. Jesus was an advocate for the poor, and cautioned the rich, especially, not to take advantage of them. In fact, Jesus associated and ate with society’s least promising peoples.

Now (2024) cities are cracking down more than ever before with legislation and enforcement that don’t and won’t allow even churches to feed and/or temporary house the homeless. And if you take the church’s help out of the homeless equation, the approximately 600,000 homeless people in America today would literally be at wit’s end.

Jesus cautioned his followers (and people in general) that whatever they didn’t do for the poor, they didn’t for Him. America’s municipalities would do well to follow suit.
