Just because an eye for an eye is stated in the Old Testament, certainly doesn’t mean we should adhere to it in the New. In fact, Jesus says if a man strikes you on one of your cheeks, turn and offer him the other. If a man needs you to go a mile for him, go two. Moreover, love your enemies.
If you don’t forgive others for their misdeeds, than God Almighty will not forgive you. Whatever the degree of unrighteousness that has been inflicted upon you by another is minuscule in comparison to the sins we individuals have inflicted upon our Savior, Jesus Christ. Since Jesus forgives the greatest of sins, certainly, we should be wanting to forgive any and all sins that are obviously lesser.
The loving hands, beneath the double head perspective, says it all. HE (Jesus) loved us first. At the very least, we should return His unmerited favor.
FYI: These hands can be interpreted as belonging to Jesus expressing His love for us. Or, belonging to anyone of us expressing our love for Him.
